QSTA United strengthens girls and women's line with experienced staff: "We're building for the future"

Bemmel, 12 May 2025 – QSTA United is taking an important step in the further development of girls’ and women’s basketball in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region. With the arrival of Gregory Tjin-A-Koeng and Twan Berkers, the technical staff is being expanded with two ambitious and experienced additions who will work alongside Steven Teunissen and Hein van Teeffelen to build a solid structure for the future.

Gregory Tjin-A-Koeng new head coach of Women’s U21 and assistant at Dames 1

QSTA United is pleased to introduce Gregory Tjin-A-Koeng as the new head coach of Women’s U21, which will once again compete in the Eredivisie next season. He will also join the Dames 1 staff as assistant coach alongside Hein van Teeffelen.

Tjin-A-Koeng is no stranger to basketball in the Nijmegen region. Having grown up in Nijmegen, he has extensive coaching experience, including at Barons Breda, Almere Sailors in the Men’s Eredivisie, and most recently as head coach of the Academy at Heroes Den Bosch.

Head coach Steven Teunissen, who is also responsible for the club’s girls’/women’s line, is enthusiastic about his arrival: “With Gregory we’re bringing in a lot of experience that will help us — not just on the sporting side, but also in terms of structure and pathway development. We have great opportunities in the region to further grow girls’ basketball. Together with Hein, who also has a real passion for regional collaboration, Gregory and I can keep building on this.”

Twan Berkers joins as a young, talented coach

Twan Berkers is also making the move to Bemmel. Born and raised in Arnhem, he spent years active within various Arnhem Eagles youth teams and is now deliberately choosing the next step in his development: “Twan is an ambitious young coach who invests a lot in himself to help move basketball forward. I worked closely with him years ago, and his passion and dedication impressed me even then. So I’m really looking forward to working with him, and with Gregory,” says Teunissen.

A long-term vision

Chairwoman Biba Ising underlines the importance of these appointments in the club’s broader development: “With Gregory we’re not only bringing in an experienced and passionate coach, but also someone who fully understands our vision on development and player pathways. Together with Steven, Hein and Twan, he can help build a solid line for girls’ basketball in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region. There are plenty of opportunities out there, but we’re also realistic: there’s still a lot of work to do. With teams in the Women’s U21 Eredivisie and the Women’s Basketball League we already have good foundations, but real continuity requires further development. Good collaboration between the different teams is crucial in that — and I have every confidence that this team will make it happen.”
