Tamar voor de Poort & Renske Tool move to America

Lekdetec.nl will no longer be able to count on Tamar voor de Poort and Renske Tool next year.

The 19-year-old Voor de Poort is leaving the club after 6 years to pursue her American Dream. This weekend she signed with St Bonaventure University in New York to combine her studies with basketball.

“America is of course a dream for every young basketball player, and it is for me too. I’ve always had a great time in Bemmel and learned so much from various coaches. I’ll really miss the players, the staff and the fans,” Voor de Poort says proudly.

The 20-year-old Tool is going to America for a year to study biology. She will study at (Cal Poly) Humboldt State University.

“In Bemmel I’ve always been able to combine my basketball development well with my studies, and I’m proud of the progress I’ve made. This university has an excellent reputation, and I’m really looking forward to continuing my studies there,” says Renske Tool.

René van der Wielen, member of the Technical Committee, responds: “This is a great step for Tamar, though of course it’s a shame for us to lose this talent. Especially last season Tamar made a good impression in the Women’s Basketball League — she suddenly got a lot of minutes due to Lisanne de Jonge’s absence and did really well with them. Renske has worked extremely hard over the past seasons and developed to the point where she started more often than not last season. With my own background as a biology teacher, I obviously can’t help but applaud her decision.”

We naturally wish Tamar and Renske every success and enjoyment in pursuing their dreams.
