United Basketball strengthens frontcourt with Canadian Cassie Joli-Coeur

United Basketball has strengthened its squad for next season with Canadian power forward/center Cassie Joli-Coeur. The 24-year-old international moves over from the Canadian UBC Thunderbirds programme and adds height, physical strength and international experience to head coach Gregory Tjin-A-Koeng’s roster.

Joli-Coeur played at a high university level in Canada over the past few years, representing McMaster University before last season’s move to the UBC Thunderbirds. In her final season in the strong Canadian U SPORTS competition, the 1.91-metre inside player averaged 9.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. With her versatility at both ends of the floor and her experience at the top level, she is a valuable addition to United Basketball’s roster.

Head coach Gregory Tjin-A-Koeng sees Joli-Coeur as an important reinforcement for the team’s game under the basket. “Cassie comes to strengthen our inside game with her exceptionally efficient post moves and strong mid-range shot. Her qualities add extra variety and depth at the big position. That gives our game an important extra dimension.”

Joli-Coeur is also looking forward to her new challenge in the Netherlands. “I am incredibly excited to be joining GET United this season and to become part of such an ambitious programme. From the very first conversations I felt the club’s passion, professionalism and commitment to building something special. I can’t wait to meet my teammates, connect with the fans and give everything I have to help compete for a championship this season.”

Familiar faces return

Alongside Joli-Coeur’s arrival, United Basketball can also count on two familiar faces. The previously announced Catie Joosten and Tamar voor de Poort return to Bemmel next season and, together with Cassie, form a strong base for the frontcourt.

With this combination of international quality and familiar faces, the squad is steadily taking shape for the 2026-2027 season.
