Well-attended and successful United Academy talent-identification training

It was an early start on Sunday 28 January at De Horstacker in Nijmegen. A large group of kids stood shivering with impatience in the cold at 8.30, eager to get playing basketball at the United Academy talent-identification training. With almost the entire United Basketball coaching staff present, it became a successful session full of energy, fun and enthusiasm from the participants. No fewer than 22 basketball clubs were represented, and happily there was also a sizeable group of girls present.

Led by QSTA United Dames 1 head coach Mark Hooiveld, who had brought along a sizeable roster of coaches and scouts for the occasion, hard work went into footwork, finishing, passing, shooting and, of course, defending. Over 75 children aged 9 to 18 from across the region — and even from further afield — had travelled to Nijmegen to put their best foot forward. And that’s exactly what happened. It’s now up to the scouts to evaluate.
