What we look for
Our coaches and scouts look at basketball skills, game understanding, ability to learn and teamwork. We look beyond raw talent: players with specific qualities and players who make a team stronger stand out to us too.
The training is a first observation moment within a possible follow-up programme.
What we do with the training, and what we do not
We invite players who stand out to train with us as an extra. Together with the player, parent/guardian and the club, we also discuss the options for a talent licence.
A full transfer during the season is not on the table. Players stay members of their own club. The Academy complements their own club; it does not replace it.

During the trainings, Simon Scholten, Technical Manager of the Academy, tells parents and guardians about the Academy, how we work and possible next steps. Parents of players in U10/U12, U14 and U16 are welcome from 10:30–11:15. Parents of players in U19 and Women U21 are welcome from 11:15–12:00.
After the training
On 4 November 2026, our technical management discusses the observations of the day. After that, every participant receives feedback.
Invitations for follow-up training go through the official communication of United Basketball, in consultation with the player’s own club. Taking part does not mean automatic placement in an Academy team.
