A wonderful start to the season for GET United’s women! In Katwijk they beat reigning national champions Grasshoppers to win the ’26/’27 Supercup. For the first time since 2014, United gets to celebrate this trophy again.
GET United started the game strongly, taking the lead right in the first quarter. That gave the team the foundation for a fine win. Grasshoppers didn’t give in easily in front of their own crowd and closed the gap several times. Still, United always had an answer ready: the lead was never given away, and the win was never truly in danger.
A debut to be proud of
Kaylee Borden and Natalie Pasco made an immediate mark in their first game for GET United. With 26 points each, they made a major contribution to the win. Kaylee was also named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the game — a brilliant capstone to a strong debut!
MVP Kaylee Borden feels her team set the tone for the season with this win: “I’m proud of the way we started the season with a great win. I’m most proud of how we fought together as a team and set the tone for the season!”
Coach Gregory’s reaction
Head coach Gregory Tjin-A-Koeng was clear about what this title means for the season: “The Supercup is well deserved. We worked incredibly hard for it as a team. With the quality and depth of this squad, we can cause a lot of noise in the league given where we already stand. We got the Supercup, but we are still hungry!”
Captain Yfke’s reaction
Captain Yfke Hoek was proud of how the team stayed in control of the game: “We were confident we could win. We fought together as a team to make that happen, and we were in control the whole game. Really great to bring the cup back to Bemmel since 2014.”
The Supercup is back in Bemmel
After the previous Supercup win in 2014, the trophy is back in Bemmel. A great first prize of the season, and a result the whole team, the staff and everyone around United can be proud of. This win brings plenty of energy for everything still to come.
The Women’s Basketball League starts this Saturday
With the first trophy in the bag, GET United’s team starts the new Women’s Basketball League season with a good feeling. It kicks off this Saturday with a home game against TopKip Lions, a serious contender for the top spots in the competition. Tip-off is at 19:30 at Sportcentrum De Kooi!
Ahead of the women’s game, GET United’s men also play a home game. That one starts at 16:30 against Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden 2.
