Coming together, getting to know each other and looking ahead to a new season with enthusiasm: GET United’s kickoff day was all about connection. Players, parents, coaches and the people behind the organisation came together for a day full of basketball, great encounters and shared ambitions. A day that made clear what makes United special: we do it together.
A new look, one United
One of the highlights was the presentation of the new United Basketball kit and the new house style. With Bluewy on hand to present the kit, the moment got an extra festive touch. The new look gives our shared identity a recognisable face. Different teams, each with their own players and ambitions, but all part of the same United.
The teams, the organisation, the management and the board were introduced as well. That gave everyone present a good picture of the people working on and off the court for GET United. Because behind every training session, every game and every step in development are people working on it together. The kickoff day offered a great opportunity to get to know each other and strengthen those bonds.
A special moment for the Academy
For all Academy players, the day held one extra special moment: signing their contract with the Academy. A meaningful milestone at the start of a period centred on training, learning and development.
Those signatures stand for ambition and commitment, but also for trust in one another. Growing as a player happens with the support and challenge of teammates, coaches and the people around you. That came together during the kickoff day: individual dreams found their place within one shared story.
A wonderful surprise for the United Academy
As if the day didn’t already hold enough great moments, there was also a special surprise: from the hands of Heren 1 player Floris van Dee, we received a cheque worth no less than €1,000 for the United Academy, from the Rabobank Support Actie! A wonderful contribution to the development of our players and an extra reason to be proud together. The fact that a Heren 1 player got to hand over this cheque made the moment extra special and underlined the connection within United. Many thanks for this great support for our Academy!
Together in photos, together at the table
Naturally, this kickoff had to be captured too. All The Lights photographed every team and captured them beautifully. That gives us a lasting memory of the day, and of the teams we’re heading into the season with.
During the shared lunch, all players and parents sat down together. There was room to catch up, meet new faces and share experiences. Moments like these are exactly what make a club more than just a place to train and play games. Connection grows around the table, and it’s where you get to know the people behind the basketball players too.
Having parents there completed that sense of connection. They’re an important part of the environment our players develop in. It was wonderful to experience this kickoff together with them.
Building GET United together
Alongside the festive moments, there was also room to look ahead. Every team held its own meeting about the organisation and development of GET United. These sessions were a chance to reflect on the direction we’re growing in together, and how that takes shape within the teams.
The kickoff day was therefore also a shared starting point for the season. Knowing and understanding each other helps us move forward together — on the court, within the teams, and in the organisation around them.
Learning from each other on the court
Basketball, of course, couldn’t be missing! Every team got a shooting clinic from Heren 1 and Dames 1. A great chance to work on shooting together and learn from the players of our first teams.
The clinics also brought the different teams closer together. Knowledge and experience were shared, everyone trained together, and the love of the game took centre stage. That’s togetherness in a very concrete form: making time for each other, helping each other, and getting better together.
This is United
GET United’s kickoff day brought many great moments together: the presentation of our new look, meeting the teams and organisation, the contract signings, the team photos, the lunch, the meetings and the clinics. But the strength of the day was above all in the people who were there.
Everyone contributes in their own way — as a player, as a parent, as a coach, or as part of the organisation. When all that involvement comes together, it creates an environment where we can challenge, support and encourage one another. That’s the foundation we’re building on this season.
Thank you to everyone who made this kickoff day possible and who was there. To Bluewy for presenting the new kit, to All The Lights for the beautiful team photos, and to Heren 1 and Dames 1 for running the shooting clinics. And of course to all players, parents and everyone involved for their enthusiasm and presence.
We’re looking forward to a season in which we grow together, encourage each other and share great moments. We are United!
